The foreword says:

“Some basic considerations regarding the planning of Ford dealership facilities have been assembled from the experience of successful Ford dealers from all sections of the nation. In this booklet, this experience becomes statistics. […] All of the dealership plans presented in this book are functionally designed for flexibility, to allow for expansion due to market or dealer growth. In this way, a dealer may take any one of these plans, and rearrange or expand it, to fit a particular site. The important thing to remember is that such changes can be made to serve specific needs as long as the basic principles and operating efficiency are not violated. Each step saved, each duplication avoided, and each bottleneck eliminated will save money, time, and aggravation.”
